Ash Gourd (Kg)

Ash gourd, also known as winter melon. The powdery coating of this vegetable is responsible for its name, Ash Gourd. With a round and oblong shape, Ash Gourds have an exterior skin which can vary between dark green to pale grey. Its pale green skin encloses a bright white, crisp, and mildly sweet flesh. They taste mild, like a cucumber, and are soft to chew. The gourd's subtly sweet flavour makes it a versatile ingredient, suitable for both savoury dishes and sweet desserts. In India, it's used in sambar and sweets like Petha. Apart from its culinary uses, ash gourd is also celebrated in cultural practices. For instance, in the Indian festival of Navaratri, it is used as a symbolic offering. Its appeal lies in its simplicity and adaptability.
