Recipes

For those of you who have ordered Himalayan Sea Buckthorn here are few recipes to try.

Sea buckthorn is often called a "superfruit," but if you've ever tasted it straight, you know it’s incredibly tart—almost like a sour orange cross-bred with a lemon and a hint of oil. Because of its high acidity and unique flavor, it’s rarely downed like a glass of apple juice.

Here are the best ways to incorporate it into your routine without shocking your taste buds:

1. The Morning "Zing" Shot

Think of this like a wheatgrass shot or a ginger shot. It’s the quickest way to get the nutrients over with.

* *The Mix:* 1 tablespoon of sea buckthorn juice mixed with a squeeze of lemon and a tiny bit of water.
* *Pro Tip:* If the tartness is too much, add a teaspoon of honey or maple syrup to balance the pH.

2. The Daily Dilution (Mocktail Style)

This is the most palatable way to enjoy it throughout the day.

* *The Mix:* Mix 1 part sea buckthorn juice with 4 parts sparkling water.
* *The Flavor:* Add a sprig of mint or a slice of fresh ginger. It tastes like a high-end, botanical soda and keeps the vitamin C flowing.

3. Smoothie Booster

Because smoothies already have natural sugars from bananas or berries, they mask the astringency of sea buckthorn perfectly.

* *The Mix:* Add 1 tablespoon to your blender.
* *Best Pairings:* It goes exceptionally well with tropical flavors like mango, pineapple, or coconut milk.

4. Warm "Tea" Tonic

Great for soothing a sore throat or boosting the immune system in winter.

* *The Mix:* Stir 1 tablespoon into a mug of warm (not boiling) water.
* *Why Warm?* Using boiling water can degrade some of the delicate Vitamin C and antioxidants. Keep it at a "sippable" temperature.

5. Salad Dressing Ingredient

Since the juice is naturally oily and acidic, it acts as a fantastic replacement for vinegar or lemon juice in a vinaigrette.

* *The Mix:* Whisk together 1 tbsp sea buckthorn juice, 2 tbsp olive oil, a little Dijon mustard, and honey.

*Quick Tips*:

* *Shake well* The juice often separates because of the natural healthy fats (Omega-7s) found in the berries. Once the seal of the bottle is opened, store it in the fridge.
